Cooke, 202/366-4970, Contract Officer The U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) is requesting public comments on some concepts for a revamped Travel Management Center (TMC) contract aimed at giving the contractor proper incentives to achieve travel savings. Some of the concepts we are considering include: an innovative menu (A la'Carte) fee-based structure to pay for the travel management contractor's services; providing directly to DOT travelers various electronic reservation services; adapting to techological and travel industry changes and opportunities within the contract; and establishing basic quality standards and cost-saving incentives. It is envisioned that this contract will be for the DOT Headquarters (including the Federal Aviation Administration and the United States Coast Guard) and other staff elements located in Washington, DC. The contract may be used by other federal agencies.
