FAMILY OF LOUDSPEAKERS (FOL) - Solicitation No. DAAB07-96-R-D752 (Previous draft solicitation documents under DAAB07-95-R-D012). The CECOM EBB will be utilized to post draft solicitation documentation and to provide a weekly/program summary. DESCRIPTION: The Family of Loudspeakers (FOL) will consist of common modules and mounting kits which will be assembled to form three configurations: the Manpack Configuration, the Vehicle/Watercraft Mounted Configuration and the Aircraft Mounted Configuration. Each configuration is required to accept input for dissemination from the following sources: Reorder/Reproducer (supplied with the system), Commercial Microphone/Headset (supplied with the system), Standard Military Microphone/Headset, and Standard Commercial Sources (i.e. Compact Disc Player and Digital Audio Tape Player). The contractor will be responsible for providing all equipment required for each configuration with the exception of the mounting hardware for the vehicle, watercraft and aircraft. The mounting hardware will be developed by the government. The Acquisition strategy is to award a two phase firm fixed price contract for the development and production of an adapted Non-developmental Item FOL. Phase I of the contract will be the development of prototypes for test and evaluation. Phase II will consist of a series of options to be awarded for the production of the FOL system. The options under phase II of the contract will be awarded after a Milestone III decision which is planned for 4Q FY 96. Pre-producion Qualification and First Article Testing will be conducted by the government's Test and Evaluation Command (TECOM). The current requirement is to produre 292 Manpack Configurations, 246 Vehicle/Watercraft Configurations and 30 Aircraft Mounted Configurations. The approximate quantities to be procured by fiscal year are FY96-Test Article, Manpack 8, Veh/Wat 12, Aircraft 4, FY97-Production Opt 1, Manpack 75-175, Veh/Wat 50-125, Aircraft 5-20, FY98-Productio Opt 2, Manpack 75-175, Veh/Wat 50-125, Aircraft 5-20, FY99-Production Opt 3, Manpack 1-75, Veh/Wat 1-50, Aircraft 1-10, FY00-Production Opt 4, Manpack 1-75, Veh/Wat 1-50, Aircraft 1-10.
