83415-3765 A -- RECYCLED SHIELDED STORAGE CONTAINERS Contact Mr. T. E. Fewell.
Lockheed Idaho Technologies Company (LITCO), P.O. Box 1625, Idaho
Falls, ID 83415-3765. Lockheed Idaho Technologies Company, a management
and operating contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho
National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) is seeking a partnership with a
private sector vendor to develop, test, and produce shielded storage
containers for the storage of Remote Handled-Transuranic (RH-TRU)
waste. A large quantity of these drums is required for the storage of
the present INEL inventory of RH-TRU waste material. The containers
will be sized to contain 30 to 55 gallon RH-TRU storage drums and will
contain between 3,000 and 6,000 pounds of lead for shielding. The
containers are to be fabricated from contaminated lead and stainless
steel, which would be obtained from the DOE contaminated material
stockpile. After the container was developed and licensed, it would
have applications for the storage and handling of other radioactive
material. LITCO is seeking partners with contaminated metal melting,
forming, and fabrication expertise; and the financial and
organizational structure to participate in the commercialization of the
technology after the development phase. The solicitation will close to
responses 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send
their appropriate supporting information describing their company and
their capabilities to: Mr. T. E. Fewell, LITCO, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho
Falls, ID 83415-3765. (299) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0002 19951030\A-0002.SOL)
