COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 31,1995 PSA#1463INTERNATIONAL VENTURES: NEW FRONTIER FOR U.S. SMALL BUSINESSES POC
Lamont Hames tel: 202/358-2088. NASA Headquarters, OSDBU, Washington,
DC 20546 Attn: K/Lamont Hames. NASA will host an Open House for
high-tech small businesses interested in international business
opportunities. UNISPHERE Institute, a Washington, DC, based non-profit
organization funded by NASA, will conduct a comprehensive presentation
on how current and future high-tech NASA suppliers may capitalize on
business abroad without having to endure the costly expense of entering
this arena. The purpose for this Open House will be to expose small,
minority, and women-owned businesses to the vast opportunities that
exist abroad. During these tense financial times, NASA encourages the
high-tech small business community to be bold and explore opportunities
outside the United States. By seeking and obtaining international
opportunities, small businesses increase their technical capabilities,
financial stability, and growth. In doing so, they can later compete
better for NASA contracts as prime contractors. This benefits both
NASA, through increased competition, and the growing small business by
competing for contracts as a stronger competitor. The UNISPHERE
program is using its partner network in 20 countries to match small
businesses that have indicated a genuine interest in international
transactions. It also provides across-the-board support for import,
export, joint venture, licensing, financing, and other transactions.
``Firms in every country we work in are excited about meeting and
working with NASA suppliers. They are keenly aware of the space
program's commercial spin-offs,'' says UNISPHERE President Allen Paul.
The Open House will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 1995, at
11:00 AM, at the NASA Headquarters Auditorium, 300 E Street, SW,
Washington, DC. RSVP is encouraged. Please call UNISPHERE at (202)
