PA 18974-0591 A -- STABLE CO2 LASERS AND/OR LASER RADAR SYSTEMS FOR AIRBORNE AND
SHIPBOARD PLATFORMS TO DETECT/MEASURE VIBRATION SIGNATURES OF POTENTIAL
TARGETS. SOL N62269-96-R&D-454 DUE 113095 POC Point of Contact : GEORGE

VEITH The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, Warminster, PA
18974-0591 seeks to identify qualified sources of stable CO2 lasers
and/or laser radar systems for airborne and shipboard platforms to
detect and measure vibration signatures of potential targets. The laser
master oscillator should have a maximum laser frequency instability of
(100 cycles over a 0.5 msec period; minimum output power of 15W at
9.11(m, CW; beam quality-gaussian, single mode. Laser power amplifier
shall be mode locked with the master oscillator and generate minimum
laser output power of 80W, CW at 9.11(m wavelength and maintain the
laser frequency stability. The laser radar system shall utilize
homodyne coherent detection scheme to provide target range, speed and
vibration signature. Furthermore, special consideration shall be
provided for strong radar and EMI environment aboard ships and
aircraft. This is not a Request for Proposal nor is it an Invitation
for Bid, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government
to ultimately issue an IFB, RFP, RFQ, or contract. All interested
sources are to send information to C. Shen, Code 45563 M/S 07, Naval
