This synopsis is published pursuant to the requirement of Federal Acquisition Regulation subpart 5.205. The Department of Energy, Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center is contemplating the acquisition of research efforts in the area listed below during the 1996 fiscal year. This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposals. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Responses will be used to develop a source list for the Western Environmental Technology Office (WETO) of potential proposers for future solicitations. Information submitted should be pertinent and specific in the technical area under consideration, on each of the following qualifications; (1) Experience: an outline of previous projects, specific work previously performed or being performed and any in-house research and development effort in related fields of science and technology; (2) Personnel: Name, professional qualifications and specific experience of scientists, engineers and technical personnel who may be assigned as principal investigator and/or project officer; include the number of employees; (3) Facilities: Availability and description of general and special facilities and equipment required to perform in the technical area under consideration. There is no specific format or outline that your response must follow. Include other descriptive literature and any other specific and pertinent information that would enhance our consideration and evaluation of the information submitted. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small business, a socially and economically disadvantaged business, or a woman-owned business. Please include two (2) copies of each response. Each response must reference the four character code specified for the program area below and must be limited in length to twenty typed pages. TELEPHONE RESPONSES WILL NOT BE HONORED. So that your response can be included in our source list for all appropriate Fiscal Year (FY) 1996 competitions, your response must be received not later than close of business on November 20, 1995. Responses will be accepted after that date, but cannot be assured of inclusion in all appropriate FY 1996 source lists. Code: WETO. The Western Environmental Technology Office (WETO) provides environmental technology test, evaluation, demonstration, transfer/commercialization, and program support services to the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management's Office of Technology Development (DOE-OTD), other DOE/federal agencies, private industry, and foreign countries/industries. The WETO serves as DOE-OTD's primary multi-agency technology test and evaluation facility and provides high quality, cost effective pilot scale demonstrations of third party owned technologies, integration of individual technologies into deployable engineering systems, technology transfer/commercialization, and program support services. The WETO is located in Butte, Montana, and serves as a national resource for environmental technology development and commercialization activities. Technology demonstrations and evaluations currently performed include waste minimization, pollution prevention, and thermal vitrifications, and the cleanup of contaminated water and soils. MSE, Inc. serves as the WETO site operator, (which entails performance of the procurement,function), under a contract with the Department of Energy's Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center.
