44135 A -- SHORT HAUL CIVIL TILTROTOR CONTINGENCY POWER ELEMENT ANALYSIS AND
PRELIMINARY DESIGN POC Kurt R. Brocone, Contract Specialist, (216)
433-2884, MS 500-305, Innernet E-Mail: kbrocone@lerc.nasa.gov, Joseph
D. Eisenbery, Project Manager, (216) 433-7027, MS 77-2. The Lewis
Research Center is planning a procurement to refine and develop the
most promising contingency power propulsion system concept(s) for a
civil tiltrotor through analysis and preliminary design. This will be
a completion type contract. The NASA advanced Subsonic Technology (AST)
Short Haul Civil Tiltrotor (SHCT) program is conducting research to
develop the critical technologies needed to overcome inhibitors to
successful introduction of a U.S. civil tiltrotor aircraft. One of
these critical technologies is the One Engine Inoperative (OEI)
contingency power propulsion system. The overall goal of the
contingency power element is to develop the critical technologies for
providing a low cost and safe One Engine Inoperative (OEI) contingency
power propulsion system for the vehicle. Cost sharing will be
required. All interested parties shall submit information of their
propulsion analysis and preliminary design capability to the above
named individual prior to the closing date of this synopsis. All
interested parties may submit information for evaluation of their R&D
capabilities to the above project manager prior to the closing date of
this synopsis. Effective October 1, 1995, the Internet will be the
only source of NASA Lewis Research Center MidRange synopsis and
solicitations. Other synopses will continue to be published in the CBD
as well as the Internet. Internet address:
