(202)707-8606. The Library of Congress is requesting information
describing currently available library systems that can support call
number assignment and inventory control for an existing database of
over 12 million bibliographic records that is expected to grow at the
rate of 300,000 records per year. The system should be available to use
existing LC bibliographic data arrange and display this data in proper
call number order, and provide the ability to add new call numbers and
edit or delete existing ones from this array. In addition, this system
should provide the ability to create and edit inventory data
describing the holdings associated with the bibliographic records. This
notice is NOT a request for proposal. Firms that can provide the system
described above are encouraged to submit the information requested in
writing (original and one copy). Firms that can provide a library
system that supports the functins described above are invited to
participate in a demonstration at the Library of Congress to
demonstrate their system. Parties interested in participating in a
demonstration must provide the information no later than November 15,
1995 for demonstration proposes. The following dates have been set
aside: November 17 and 29, December 1, 4, 6, 11, 12 and 15. Contact
