to issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) in support of the Department of
Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP).
The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain wide area network (WAN)
services to interconnect and support users in science and technology
(S&T), developmental test and evaluation (DT&E), and modeling and
simulation (M&S) communities throughout the 50 United States. Digital
data transfer services are required via a variety of technologies (e.g.
Ethernet, FDDI, IP, ATM (OC3-0C48). The estimate period of performance
is 5 years, consisting of a 3-year base effort, and 2 one-year option
periods. It is anticipated that the RFP will be released in mid
December 1995 on the ISSAA bulletin board. Users with modems capable of
9600 bps and below may access the ISSAA bulletin board by dialing (703)
325-6095. Several 14,400 bps modems are available by dialing (703)
325-4876. In addition, the following three numbers are available: (703)
325-0390 and 325-5274 (both 9600 bps), and 325-5229 (28,800 bps).
Communications parameters should be no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
and full duplex. For more details on phone lines and accessing the
