The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) intends to hold negotiations on an other than full and open competitive basis with Lowell Observatory of Flagstaff, Arizona for the award of a 60 month contract to support NRL R&D efforts in optical interferometry. The effort involves the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI) on Anderson Mesa, near Flagstaff, AZ. The work under this effort includes fabrication, assembly, installation, integration and testing of sophisticated scientific instrumentation and daily operation, maintenance, and reduction & analysis of mass data that must be performed at the NPOI site on Anderson Mesa. Lowell Observatory is the only known source who can access the site.
