Washington, D.C., 20591 B -- APPLIED TECHNOLOGY PROJECT TO STUDY AIR TRANSPORTATION IN URBAN
AREAS POC Thais D. Campbell, Contract Specialist, Eugene Johnson,
Contracting Officer, (202)267-5149 FAX The FAA intends to negotiate a
sole-source contract with Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) to
conduct an applied technology project to study enhancement of
intermodal transportation systems in urban areas. The Atlanta Short
Haul Transportation System (ASTS) project is planned to take place
concurrent with the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta during the
July and August 1996 timeframe. GTRI has designed the lightweight cargo
container that will easily fit into proposed aircraft, which provide
for rapid loading and unloading of cargo. Under the planned ASTS
procurement, GTRI with the cooperation of commercial operator(s), will
provide the necessary flight services, and equipment to perform the
requirement of the ASTS project. GTRI will also provide engineering and
technical services required to integrate the airborne technology with
the data collection process, and will insure that selected operators
receive the appropriate training in related technology and procedures
unique to the ASTS project. GTRI will be issuing the solicitation for
the equipment and services for this project. The point of contact for
subcontracting opportunities is Mr. Chuck Stancil, who may be reached
at (404)528-3224. See Note 22. (0306) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0012 19951103\B-0002.SOL)
