70 -- TAC-5 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Contact Point, Contracting Officer, Mr. David Berry, 202/433-3181. The Department of the Navy will be issuing a Request For Information (RFI) for the Tactical Advanced Computer 5 (TAC-5) acquisition. TAC-5 is the 5th in a series of contracts to support mission critical and administrative programs by providing workstations, servers and associated peripheral equipment, software, maintenance, and training for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and other DoD activities. This RFI is currently planned for release to industry in November 1995. Comments regarding this RFI will be received through December 1995. Industry comments are encouraged. The Navy will be utilizing a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for TAC-5 similar to the BBS used during the TAC-4 acquisition. The telephone number for this BBS is 202/433-3360. Industry is encouraged to use the TAC-5 BBS to communicate with the Navy regarding this acquisition, including requesting addition to the bidders' list for the acquisition. This request may be accomplished by sending a message to the Contracting Officer via the BBS. Upon logging into the BBS for the first time, completion of a questionnaire is required. The BBS will be used as an interim measure for electronic communication on the acquisition until the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the Internet are established. TAC-5 will utilize the internet and World Wide Web capabilities in RFP dissemination. If a vendor cannot access the BBS and is interested in being added to the TAC-5 Bidders' List, the vendor should address their request to the Naval Information Systems Management Center, Bldg. 176-5, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC 20374-5070, Attn: David Berry.
