COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 7,1995 PSA#1468HQ AETC/LGCM, 555 E STREET EAST, RANDOLPH AFB TX 78150-4440
Attn:N/A/DAVID HINSON 70 -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR A SOFTWARE INTEGRATION STUDY. DUE
112895 POC DAVID HINSON tel: 210/652-6904 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR
A SOFTWARE INTEGRAION STUDY. The Air Force Education and Training
Command (AETC) logistics (LG) community is currently served by numerous
stand-alone ''legacy'' computer systems and databases within AETC, as
well as through its reporting agencies. PRC, a scientific and
engineering technical assistance (SETA) contractor, has been tasked to
look at and recommend methods to improve and streamline the LG
Decision Support System for the T-37/38 programs with the end goal of
elimiating duplication, delays and disconnects between functions. The
study, scheduled for completion in March 96 is expected to identify
constraints and eventually recommend solutions to remove those
constraints. It is anticipated that the latest information technology
will be an ''enabler'' in this reengineering effort and may very well
provide the greatest opportunities for process improvements. To aid in
this study, HQ AETC/LG is requesting information on available, proven,
non-proprietary commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software systems which
could overlay and provide integrated access to a wide away of large
complex databases at various locations. The desired end-result to
implementing such a system would be the appearance and functionality of
a single integrated network with simplified access. Candidate systems
should require a minimum of modifications to implement without
requiring the creation of any new databases. Depending upon the results
of this study and assuming a viable software approach exists, AETC/LG
anticipates requesting product demonstrations from qualified vendors
and eventually releasing a request for proposal for its implementation.
Conflict of interest clauses apply to the study PRC is performing.
Request any product literature, packages discussing current
applications, white papers, etc, be submitted by 28 Nov 95, marked
''AETC/LG Software Integration Study,'' care of AETC/LGCM, 555 E Street
East, Randolph AFB TX 78150-4440. If you have any technical questions
or want to discuss possible alternatives concerning this study, contact
the PRC representatives, Mr Tony Evans and Mr Doug Hanlin, (210)
652-7161/3870. The Contracting Officer's Representativ, Capt David
Hinson, AETC/LGCM, (210) 652-6904, is also available to discuss any
questions concerning this request for information. To aid in responding
to this request, examples of existing databases requiring integrtion
