(703)704-2193 NON-METALLIC MINE DETECTORS. Communication-Electronics
Command (CECOM), Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD),
Countermine System Division intends to negotiate a sole source contract
with GDE Systems, Inc. for three additional hand-held
metallic/non-metallic mine detectors that were developed and tested at
the Close-In Man Portable Mine Detector (CIMMD) Advanced Technology
Demonstration (ATD) during mid-1995. Specifically, the three additional
hand-held mine detectors employ the Balanced Bridge detection scheme.
Concentrically located Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) and Ground
Penetrating Radar (GPR) sensors make up the Balanced Bridge Mine
Detector system. GDE System's mine discrimination signal processes the
received EMI and GPR data, and an audible and visual announcement of
possible mine location is given. The total weight of the Balanced
Bridge hand-held metallic/non-metallic mine detector is 15 pounds. GDE
Systems, Inc. is the only known firm who is capable of meeting the
detection system's specifications described above. This synopsis is for
information purposes only. See Note 22. (0313) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0008 19951113\A-0008.SOL)
