574-6160 This is not a request for proposal. This is an informal survey
for information and planning purposes only. The U.S. Army
tank-automotive, research, development and engineering Center (TARDEC)
is seeking industry participa tion in the definition of a technical
architecture (TA) for ground vehicle weapon system platforms. The TA is
alist of building codes that are used to develop a system architecture
to meeting the performance requirements of a weapon system. The TA
will become a part of an integrated Army technical architecture (ATA)
document along with the current command control, communcations, comp
uters and intelligence (C4I) technical architecture developed as part
of the Army Enterprise strategy. The use of Commercial, industry-based
products, processes, services, interface and standards for Military
application need to be optimized in order to achieve reduced develo
pment and life cycle COST benefits. A preview of the emerging ground
vehicle technical architecture ''vetronicsopen system architecture
handbook'' and the 3.1 version of the C4I technical architecture may be

feedback on the draft ground vehicle techni CAL architecture to include
identifying voids of other open standards that should be included in
the ground VE hicle domain standards profile to be acceptable to
industry. Interested organizations should attend an industry Day on 7
December 1995 at the U.S. Army tank-automoti VE an armaments command,
Warren, Michigan in building 200 auditorium. A general presentation
will take place from 0900 to 1200 hours with an optional feedback
