Project consists of a review of the existing stadium facility; providing a commercially available, proven, designed, football field system, and system specific installation to provide an approved NCAA Division I football field. Salient characteristics of the field system include a natural turf, of which NCAA approved football cleats can penetrate, a sand base root zone, a soil heating system, an automated irrigation system, and subsurface drainage. The successful contractor must have proven experience in designing and installing a minimum of five successful NCAA or NFL sand base football field systems in the past eight years. At least one of these football field systems must have been constructed within the past two years. Both turf and subsurface drainage requirements are critical. A detailed description of the turf design must be provided. The proposed and installed turf and granular subsurface drainage system must remove all irrigation and rainwater at a minimum rate of five inches per hour, as demonstrated by percolation tests and must be warranted for five years. The Government will remove the existing field to the depth required (within +/- one inch) for the system selected. The field elevation is 6600 feet and is located at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. This solicitation will be issued unrestricted. (0313)
