D -- MICROCOMPUTER AND OFFICE AUTOMATION SUPPORT SERVICES SOL RFI-03-96-HHS-OS POC Contact Point, Arthur L. Storey, (202)690-5547 The Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary (OS) intends to issue a Request For Information (RFI) for a Microcomputer and Office Automation Support Services contract. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY AND IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. The RFI package in no way represents the final Request For Proposal. Under this procurement, the OS plans to procure ADP support services for performing the wide variety of complex tasks that are necessary to provide on-going microcomputer and office automation support services of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE). The support services planned to be procured under the proposed contract are summarized as: (a) Configuration Management and Maintenance, this includes: assessment of ASPE's personal computer and LAN hardware and software configurations to ensure that they and related systems meet ASPE's requirements and operate efficiently; (b) Hardware/Software Maintenance and Problem Diagnosis, these services include maintaining in good operating condition all PC hardware, including microcomputer, LAN servers, printers, disk drives, video display terminals. modems and related peripheral hardware; the contractor will also be responsible for preventative maintenance and maintaining a telephone help-line; (c) Network and Computer System Operations, this requires controlled processes and constant monitoring of all servers, routers, gateways, etc., to assure system availability, performance, security and data protection; (d) Managing Computer Assets, this consist of maintaining up-to-date, detailed hardware and software inventories which fully document the system and all changes thereto; installation and distribution of all software changes to individual workstations; and insuring that the government properly uses software by tracking and controlling all software licenses (software metering); (e) Information Dissemination, Documentation and Reports, ASPE's user community requires printed and electronic information designed to improve their use of ASPE computer systems and to keep areast of changes to these systems; (f) Special Training, the contractor will be required to provide specialized training that introduces new staff to ASPE's computing resources, and enhance everyone's utilization of existing applications and new software releases; (g) Maintenance of Spare Parts, this consists of maintaining a basic government provided spare parts inventory. SCHEDULE: The RFI package (Draft Statement of Work, Draft Section L, and Draft Section M) will be available from November 16, 1995 on. Request for the RFI must be in writing through the US Postal mail, FAX requests will be accepted on (202) 690-5698. Comments will be accepted by US Postal mail and by FAX through December 7, 1995.
