R -- RFI RURAL DIRECTORIES The Bureau of the Census is interested in obtaining information from companies that produce map and/or address products that identify the locations of individual dwellings and their associated mailing addresses for areas having a preponderance of noncity-style addresses (for example, ''RR1, Box 5,'' HCR 1, Box 90,'' and ''PO Box 41''). The potential contract would require the preparation of similar products for selected geographic areas. The Bureau of the Census needs to replace an operation in which Bureau of the Census staff travel rural roads to record mailing addresses and their associated physical locations. For rural areas with nocity-style addresses, the Bureau of the Census will use the linkage of dwelling locations and mailing addresses to develop its Master Address File, which is an inventory of each address in the United States. The Bureau of the Census is soliciting information from companies that produce products that associate mailing addresses with their physical locations and have an existing field staff for obtaining such information. The potential contractor would prepare map products according to specifications provided by the Bureau of the Census. Interested vendors are requested to respond with information that describes your company's: 1) map products, 2) map product development methodology, 3) field staff, and 4) ability to prepare map products that are different from your company's standard map products.
