Synopsis No. 08. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command
(SPAWARSYSCOM) is seeking qualified sources for the development and
production of a VHF Marine Band Radio Set. SPAWAR is planning to
procure approximately 400 units starting in FY98. The Radio Set must
operate on the VHF Marine Radio Band located between 156 and 160 MHz,
with additional capability to receive the US National Weather
Transmissions located between 162.5 and 163.0 MHz. The Radio set shall
consist of a RF transceiver, dedicated antenna, a master control
station and up to five remote stations. The antenna and remote stations
shall be designed for exposed mounting. The Radio Set may have between
20 and 25 watts of output power, shall meet all Safety of Life at Sea
requirements, shall have a ''line out'' audio record feed, be capable
of operating in the shipboard environment, including vibration,
humidity, temperature, and EMI compatibility. Firms are invited to
submit qualifying information which describes expertise and experience
with shipboard VHF Communications equipment design and production and
the facilities required to provide the production effort, an
assessment of any risks involved, preliminary plans for accomplishing
the production, previous related engineering efforts, and total number
of employees, including affiliates. Firms must state whether they are
a Large Business, Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business or
8(a). Closing date for submissions of qualifying information is 30 days
from publication of this notice. This is not a Request For Proposal
(RFP) nor does the government intend to pay for information solicited.
Proprietary data submitted in response to this synopsis will be
protected when so designated. The qualifying information shall not
exceed 20 pages in length. Acknowledgment of receipt will not be made
and telephone inquiries will not be honored. Submit responses in
