Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Institutes
ofHealth (NIH), is soliciting proposals from qualified small business
concerns having thecapability to provide literature search and summary
support for the Environmental ToxicologyProgram (ETP). The major
objective of this project is the development of pertinent
informationand data on chemicals and classes of chemicals nominated to
the National Toxicology Program(NTP) for various types of
toxicological testing, and on chemicals and their structural analogs
atthe conclusion of testing by the NTP. The NIEHS Chemical Selection
Office supports the NTPby providing the toxicological summaries for
evaluation and selection of chemicals. Thecontractor shall conduct
literature searches and prepare toxicological summaries. This
projectwill also aid the NTP in its efforts by collecting the
information available on the toxic effects ofchemicals and their
metabolites, and structurally related chemicals. This information,
along withthe data generated by the various NTP testing programs is
also used in the preparation oftechnical reports. The project consists
of two tasks: Task 1 will provide technical support for theevaluation
of chemicals under consideration for NTP toxicological testing by
preparing literaturesearches and detailed toxicological summaries on
chemicals or chemical classes being consideredby the NTP for
toxicological testing. It is anticipated that approximately 90
toxicologicalsummaries will be required for the three-year initial
performance period of the contract(approximately 30 per year). If the
two potential option years are exercised, an additional 30toxicological
summaries per option year would be needed. Task 2 requires the
contractor toperform literature searches to collect and summarize
information and data on special topics, asdefined by the Project
Officer. One award is anticipated. The Government estimates that
hecontract will require approximately 1,860 professional-person hours,
1,860 technical person-hours, 1,292 clerical-person hours, and 330
computer-support-person hours for each year of thecontract, for a total
of 5,432 hours. Requests must reference RFP No. NIH-ES-96-24 and mustbe
directed to the office listed above. Numbered Note 1 applies to this
