Morris (816) 426-7267 extension 234 The National Weather Service plans to issue a solicitation to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS and the data continuity program at the National Weather Service Office, Fargo, North Dakota. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS on a continuous basis, 24-hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that is beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consist of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The contract will contain one option to extend performance for one twelve-month period. The total duration of the contract shall not exceed 19 months. Solicitation will be issued on or about December 5, 1995. The anticipated performance for the basis award period is March 1, 1996 through September 30, 1996. The basis award period shall begin as an 8 hour per day operation, increasing to 16 hours per day on May 26, 1996 and becoming a full time operation effective July 1, 1996.
