INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT-AIRFIELD LIGHTING REHABILITATION PROJECT
Invitation for Prequalification of Contractors: The Government of
Bermuda intends to prequalify contractors for the replacement and
refurbishment of the airfield lighting system at Bermuda International
Airport. The scope of the work generally comprises the following: new
high-intensity edge lighting for Runway 12-30 (9675 ft/2950 m),
rehabilitate threshold and end lighting for Runway 12-30, rehabilitate
abbreviated CAT I approach lighting for Runways 12 and 30, obstruction
lighting on runway approaches, PAPI for Runways 12 and 30, edge
lighting for six taxiway segments, taxiway guidance signage, taxiway
hold position lighting, illuminated windsocks, new airfield lighting
control system, relocation of existing equipment, new field electrical
centre and regulators, apron floodlighting at terminal building,
removal of existing systems, provision of tools and test equipment,
training, and related civil and electrical works. The works will be
tendered as a single package, and construction will be supervised by
the international consultant who has prepared to tender documents. Only
prequalified contractors or joint ventures will be invited to submit
tenders for this project. The project will be of interest to well
established firms with experience and capability in construction of
airfield lighting systems at major airports. Contractors that can
demonstrate experience of a similar nature are invited to submit a
request for prequalification documents not later than December 5, 1995,
by contacting: Government of Bermuda, Bermuda International Airport,
Department of Airport Operations, 2 Kindley Field Road, St. Georges,
GECX, Bermuda, Tel 809-299-4808 or 4809, Fax 809-293-4504. All requests
for documents shall be made by fax and followed by confirming letter.
The confirming letter shall include a non-refundable certified cheque
or money order in favour of the Accountant General, Government of
Bermuda, in the amount of Bermudian or US $100 as payment for the
prequalification documents. The prequalification documents will be
available for dispatch from the Government of Bermuda on or about
November 10, 1995. The prequalification documents must be duly
completed and returned to the address above, where they must be
received by December 22, 1995. Documents received later will not be
