The government intends to procure the following requirement as a sole source acquisition from Data General Corporation, 2603 Main Street, Ste 400, Irvine CA 92714: A Stand-Alone Loader (SAL), Data General model # 5763EC03-A for the Test Instrumentation Management System (TIMS) Operations Office for use at Edwards AFB. The functions of the hardware to be procured include creation of Pulse Coded Module (PCM) formats and transferring to existing government-owned TIMS Ground Support Units (GSUs) that are used for AFFTC flight test for Ground Support of existing Airborne Test Instrumentation System (ATIS), Advance Airborne Test Instrumentaion System (AATIS), and Common Airborne Instrumentation System (CAIS) Ground Support Units (GSUs). The hardware must be compatible with all other existing TIMS system configurations and programs and must be able to directly load the programs into the ATIS, AATIS, and CAIS units aboard the aircraft. Delivered hardware must be integrated into and operate with the existing Data General (DG)-developed TIMS software system operating under the DG/UX used on the DG AViiON-family platform processors. At the minimum, the hardware must include the following features and characteristics: ruggedized to accommodate its field operating environment; portable (size: 9''H, 16''W, 8''D, weight: 23 lbs); custom decom card custom ATIS/AATIS loader card; Bit Sync card, Frame sync card; and ACB-4 loader card. The hardware must be able to TMATS setup of decommutation, support real-time data recording, preview raw data for diagnostic purposes, and reach up to 200 mega words of PCM data. The procedure to be used in awarding this contract is written quotation IAW Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is 27 November 1995. Data General was selected as the source for this procurement because its SuperSal is the only ruggedized and portable Stand-Alone Loader that has the capabilities to run the TIMS software in the flightline environment.
