Our existing software can currently determine when a file wasaccessed, however, It cannot tell what parts of the file wereused. In a file with many Fields, knowing which Fields were used would permit US to eliminate Fields never used and to migrate the data to less costly medium based on the users' need. The Defense Logistics Agency is interested in developing sources for purchasing software that will monitor the usage of a dataelement/Field in a flat file or database. The software shall be able to migrate the data from DASD to less costly storage devices (tape cartridge, optical DISC, microfiche) based on the usage of the data element and to flag the data for elimination if It is not used within a certain period of time. Contractors are invited to provide technical and COST information on their capabilities to meet this requirement. Technical information should be amethodology which either describes existing software that performs these capabilities, can be modified to perform these requirements or must be developed. All parties interested in providing the capability to furnish the above describedproducts/services should submit their qualifications describing their concept to implement the request synopsized above, their ability to supply such items, and a description of their currently available facilities plus COST information. All responses must contain sufficient information to enable evaluation of the capability of the Company'S ability to meet requirements of the agency.
