COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 22,1995 PSA#1475Defense Nuclear Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310-3398 A -- LARGE BLAST/THERMAL SIMULATOR (LB/TS) CALCULATIONAL SUPPORT POC
Neil Gross, Negotiator, (703) 325-7658, Scott Morton, Contracting
Officer, (703) 325-1200. Contract effort will include but not be
limited to develop calculational models for description of the
airblast, thermal and combined blast/thermal environments in the LB/TS,
develop a PC/workstation based model and install the SHARC code on a
Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA) work-station to provide tools for DNA
scientists to perform test and environment predictions and analysis,
and provide general support as part of the LB/TS facility
characterization, including the Boundary Layer mapping. Contemplated
period of performance is 3 months. DNA plans to award a sole source
contract, DNA001-93-C-0140-P00008, to S-Cubed Division, Maxwell
Laboratories, Inc., 3398 Carmel Mountain Road, San Diego, CA
92121-1095. DNA believes that S-Cubed Division, Maxwell Laboratories,
Inc. is the only source able to fill this requirement because they have
participated in the LB/TS program as a principal provider of
calculational support throughout the facility characterization. S-Cubed
has also brought the standalone PC-model through a complex development
process. The PC-model is currently being evaluated and tested in a
Beta version. LB/TS has been designated for some non-standard, or
alternative methods of performing blast simulation. The program which
this supports is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of FY97,
which deletes the time to transition the codes and development, or
permit training of another performer for this task. Any other firm
desiring consideration must fully identify its capability to perform
the requirement. See Note 22. A solicitation will be issued to S-Cubed
Division, Maxwell Laboratories, Inc. on or about 1 Dec 95. For
information contact Neil O. Gross, at (703) 325-7658. Information on
DNA solicitations, already released, can be obtained by calling the DNA
Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Reference Synopsis No. 96-11 (0324) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0006 19951121\A-0006.SOL)
