Merson, Contracting Officer, (301) 713-0839 The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS), National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), the Library and Information Services Division (LISD), requires the services of a Contractor to provide the support necessary to perform Library Information Retrieval Services {SIC Code 7375} at the NOAA Central Library, 1335 East-West Highway, Silver Spring, Maryland. Services required will be in the areas of original and copy cataloging (utilizing online ADP systems/services); materials processing; information access and dissemination; interlibrary loans; collection maintenance and ADP maintenance for library computer systems (networked CD-ROMs). The technical library uses LAN, WAN and the Internet to provide information retrieval services and data to research scientists and the NOAA user community. ADP personnel experienced in using and supporting a UNIX-based environment and integrated library system are required. The NOAA Central Library consists of approximately 1,000,000 volumes (scientific, technical and legal) in a number of languages. The collections include subject areas in meteorology, oceanography, fisheries and environmental law. Additional Contractor service support may be required on three NOAA regional libraries in Charleston, SC; Miami, FL and Seattle, WA and 27 field libraries via an automated environment and the Internet. The Contractor must have facilities located within a 60 minute drive of the NOAA/LISD Silver Spring, MD facility to allow for close liaison between the Contractor and the Government. The proposed contract is 100% set aside for small business concerns. A task order, labor hour contract is anticipated. The period of performance is for one year with four one-year option periods, commencing 01 October 1996.
