16 -- PROCUREMENT OF AN/ARC-187 RADIOS FOR THE P-3/S-3/ES-3/EP-3E COMM. IMPF POC Contact, KENNETH FINLEY, Phone (703)604-2000 The procuring contracting officer plans to procure 200 AN/ARC-187 radios, non-recurring engineering, prototyping, fuctional configuration audit/physical configuration audit, technical manuals, test program set development, contractor engineering/techncial support, spare and repair parts, support equipment auxilary equipment, integrated logistics support (ILS), and contractor engineering technical services. Magnavox is the designer, developer, and sole manufacturer of the AN/ARC-187 radio and as such, is the only company that has the technical capability and specializsd experience necessary to only company effort in a timely manner. The AN//ARC-187 radio is the only in-production UHF radio that meets the operational requirement for satelite communications (SATCOM) 5 and 25 KHZ channel tuning and LINK II//LINK 4A capability. Magnavox is the only qualified vendor for the AN/ARC-187, the government has only limited data rights for this radio and it is not cost effective to procure unlimited rights in data and a technical data package with which to complete this effort. - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 30015-95.
