Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) requires the
services of a single hazardous waste management firm to arrange for the
proper pick-up, transportation, storage, and treatment or disposal of
hazardous waste for all FSIS laboratories. In addition, the contractor
may be required to analyze waste samples to determine if they are
regulated hazardous waste. FSIS' laboratories are located in Athens,
GA; St. Louis, MO; and Alameda, CA. The contractor must be able to
provide services for all three laboratories. Waste streams may
included, but may not be limited to, the following: non-chlorinated,
flammable organic solvents (approx. 800 gallons); chlorinated organic
solvents (approx. 2069 gallons); aqueous, alkaline waste mixture
(approx. 349 gallons); aqueous, acid waste mixture with silver (approx.
66 gallons); aqueous, alkaline waste mixture without metals (approx. 5
gallons); aqueous, acid waste mixture without metals (approx. 5
gallons); mercuric sulfide sludge (approx. 4 gallons); and lab packs of
miscellaneous surplus laboratory chemicals. FSIS estimates
approximately 13 total pick-ups per year. FSIS intends to award an
Indefinite Quantity contract with an initial period of performance
through September 30, 1996, and four one-year option periods.
