COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 27,1995 PSA#1477

LPD 17 DETAIL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION POC: Sharie Bourbeau, Contracting Officer, SEA 02224, 703-602-3102. The Naval Sea Systems Command is interested in initiating dialogue with parties regarding detail design and construction requirements for the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) 17 program. You are advised that the President's FY96 budget included no money for an LPD 17. The Navy is interested in identifying responsible, full service entities capable of satisfying the Navy's future requirement for the detail design, total ship systems integration, construction and life cycle support planning of the ship. Teaming is considered a viable approach, however, a single point of contact would be required. An information package will posted on the INTERNET on 27 November 1995. Interested parties can access this information through our WEB server or through our FTP server. This can be accomplished in the following two methods: For a WEB session, open the URL ``HTTP://SEAO2WWW.NAVSEA.NAVY.MIL'' and select the hyper-link ``Information Documents''. There you will see a hyper-link for the ``Landing Platform Dock (LPD 17) program''. Select that link and you will be provided a list of files to view/download. For FTP access, open a FTP session to host ftp.navsea.navy.mil. The login ID will be CONTRACT and CONTRACT should be used as the password. Upon login, you will be in file area PUB/CONTRACTS. The subject information package, including related files, can then be downloaded. Interested parties should be in BINARY mode when copying files rather than ASCII. A limited number of hard copies will be available on a first come, first served basis beginning on 27 November 1995 at NAVSEA Industry Liaison Office, Room 5E40 in Zachary Taylor Building (National Center #3), 2531 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA. A hard copy of this information package will be maintained for viewing in the NAVSEA Industry Liaison Office. Comments to the information package will be sought. Parties wishing to submit comments should contact the Contracting Officer at (703) 602-3102 to obtain instructions for the electronic transmission of comments. Periodic revisions to the information package are anticipated. The revisions will be posted on the internet and can be accessed using the same procedure described above. Comments should be forwarded no later than 5 January 1996. NAVSEA will host a program briefing on the LPD 17 program on 11 December 1995. The briefing will begin at 0800 hrs and will be in Room 3811 of National Center #3, 2531 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22242-5160. Parties interested in attending should submit their statement of interest identifying the attendees via facsimile to (703) 602-7360. Parties are requested to submit clarification questions or any specific issues relating to the LPD 17 information package no later than 6 December 1995, electronically to: BOURBEAU _ SHARIE@HQ.NAVSEA.NAVY.MIL, or via facsimile at (703) 602-7360.
