(2) Characteristics: Ku band Satellite Communication System using Ultra-small Earth Station consists of Ultra-small Terminal Earth Stations, Base Earth Stations (primary/secondary two-station configuration) that communicate with the Terminal Earth Stations as their counterparts, and Control Stations (primary/secondary two-station configuration) that remotely supervise and control earth stations (Terminal Earth Stations and Base Earth Stations) and communication links. The system constructs the subscriber line connected to the public switched telephone network. The system aims at provision of services that supply transmitting/receiving of a single two-way voice communication link between the public switched telephone network and the telephone terminal connected to the Terminal Earth Station via Terminal Earth Station and Base Earth Station. (3) Scheduled quantity: Base Earth Station: 2 stations. Control Station: 2 stations. Terminal Earth Station: about 1,600 stations. (4) Delivery period: From August 1996 to March 1999.
