65 -- LINEAR ACCELERATOR (LINAC) UPGRADE SOL DACA87-96-R-0012 DUE 011896 POC Contracting Officer, J. R. Larkin, 205-895-1131; Contract Specialist, Edna Sheridan 205-895-1146 (Site Code DACA87) The offeror shall provide a linear accelerator upgrade package for Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. The upgrade shall consist of one (1) multileaf collemator, one (1) Accessory System Type III, one (1) C-Series Application Software Version 3, one (1) Dual Independent Collemators Upgrade, one (1) Remote Diagnostics Upgrade and all installation services required. The upgrade shall ensure that the linear accelerator system shall comply with the standards established in MFPA-70, National Electrical Code, UL187, X-ray equipment and the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP). Where required by title 21CFR Subchapter 5, set items of the linear accelerator upgrade must be currently approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for general marketing. A negotiated supply contract shall be awarded as a result of the Request for Proposal. The proposed period of performance is seven months. The Government intends to award on a sole source basis to Varian Oncology Systems, 3045 Hanover Street, Palo Alto, California 94304. Varian is the sole provider of the required upgrade. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about 22 Dec 95. Copies of the solicitation shall be obtained by written request only. Telephonic requests will not be considered. The Standard Industrial Code applicable to this procurement is 5047. For the purpose of the solicitation, any concern whose gross annual receipts over the past three years do not exceed an average of $3,500,000.00 is considered a small business. Offerors shall furnish business size with written request (i.e. small, large business). See numbered Notes 22 and 26. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. (0328)
