being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif. 95.325.

Motor vehicles. 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document:
Proposed Amendment to the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (pages
3741-3745). 6. Description of content: This amendment will: (a) Require
alterers and intermediate and final stage manufacturers to respect the
gross axle weight ratings and gross vehicle weight rating determined
for the vehicle by the original manufacturer; (b) require the
manufacturers of motor homes, recreational trailers, altered vans,
altered multipurpose passenger vehicles, and vehicles manufactured from
chassis with a cutaway cab to state their cargo-carrying capacity and
designated seating capacity on the compliance label or on a separate
label placed beside the compliance label; (c) for motor homes and
recreational trailers, require that the above label specify the mass of
the contents of each fresh-water tank and waste tank, when full, and
state the cargo-carrying capacity of the vehicle was determined with
the fresh-water tanks full and the waste tanks empty; (d) change the
term ``rated cargo mass'', which is used in determining the GVWR, to
``cargo-carrying capacity'' and redefine ``unloaded vehicle mass'' to
clarify that the mass of the unloaded vehicle includes all the
equipment necessary to carry out its intended function; and (e) require
that the number of seat belts installed in a motor home be no less than
the number of sleeping positions. 7. Objective and rationale:
