99 -- INDUSTRY BRIEFING - RELIABLE EXPENDABLE LAUNCH VEHICLES (ELV) SERVICES SOL N/A - INDUSTRY BRIEFING POC Karen Poniatowski tel: 202/358-2469 As a result of the recent Government furlough, the NASA/Industry briefing on Expendable Launch Vehicle (ELV) services, originally scheduled for November 17, 1995 was not held. The briefing is now rescheduled for December 6, 1995 in Room 9H40 at NASA Headquarters from 8:30 A.M to Noon. The purpose of the meeting remains the same as originally intended: to discuss with interested parties (including industry, educational institutions, and government agencies) NASA's current efforts to improve the future acquisition of reliable expendable launch vehicles (ELV) services. The briefing will outline criteria NASA is considering using as requirements for launch service providers in the future, with the goal of improving ELV reliability. A short discussion period will follow during which all attendees are encouraged to participate in an exchange of views. More lengthy, in-depth discussion will be possible from December 11 to 14, 1995 in one-on-one meetings between the NASA team and industry. The purpose of these meetings is to provide industry an opportunity to independently comment on NASA's findings and/or to suggest other possible approaches to improving reliability. The purpose is NOT to provide industry a marketing forum to extol the virtues of their products. Everyone who notified NASA of their plans to attend the earlier briefing and who plan to attend this briefing as well need not notify NASA of their attendance.
