Management and Prediction Computer System Maintenance. The U.S. Coast
Guard Research and Development Center (USCG R&DC), Internationl Ice
Patrol, Groton, CT is interested in identifying sources capable of
performing maintenance services for its iceberg Data Management and
Prediction System (DMPS) computer system. The DMPS computer system
hardware to be maintained consists of: one Intergraph Model 250 Data
Processing system (includes Digital Equipment Corporation Micro-VAX II
based central processing unit (CPU), specialized Intergraph
subprocessors to enhance CPU performance in graphics and database
applications, 16 megabytes of dynamic random access memory, one 559
megabyte (mb) (formatted) mixed media hard drive used as the system
hard drive, a 1600/6250 bit per inch 1/2 inch 9-track magnetic tape
drive and controller, Intergraph File Processor capable of controlling
4 hard drives, an Intergraph Communication Processor with 4-channel
ETHERNET Multiplexer, and an intelligent modem switch); two additional
559 mb (formatted) fixed media hard drives for the Intergraph 250; one
Q-Bus, 16 line serial port interface for the Integraph 250; one
InterAct 220 Dual Screen Color Workstation (includes 32-bit UNIX
engine, a graphics subsystem, an INTEL-80186 based input/output
subsystem, one 156 mb (formatted) fixed media hard drive, 16 mb of
dynamic random access memory, one dual density 1.2 mb/360 kilobyte 5
1/4 inch IBM PC-compatible floppy disk drive and controller, ETHERNET
connection, 34 by 22 inch integral input table, 142 key keyboard, and
a free-floating 12 button digitizing cursor); one 150 mb 1/4 inch
cartridge external SCSI magnetic tape drive for connection to the
InterAct 220; one external SCSI 426MB hard drive connected to the
Interact 220; one external SCSI CD-ROM drive for connection to the
InterAct 220; three Microterm Model 5510 11 1/2 inch (diagonal)
monochrome alphanumeric terminals with 109 key keyboards for connection
to the Intergraph 250; two Fujitsu Model 3348A dot matrix printers for
connection to the Microterm terminals; one Intergraph Model 1LP814
Laser printr for connection to the InterAct 220; one HP-7595 plotter
and driver for connection to the Intergraph 250; and all cables and
connectors for joining the above components into the system
configuration. Maintenance services from the contractor shall be
available Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1630 daily throughout the
period of performance. The service costs shall include all parts and
labor required to keep the equipment in good operating condition.
Preventative maintenance and remedial maintenance shall be included.
Downtime for any component in excess of 12 hours within a 24 hour
period shall result in the contractor providing a credit to the
government. In addition, an effectiveness level for any hardware
component which falls below 90 percent during a month shall result in
a credit due the government. The government intends to negotiate a
contract for one year with two option years for a total potential
contract life of three years. Any firms having the capability to
perform the required work are requested to fully identify their
interest by submitting a written synopsis of their experience with
maintaining computer systems consisting of the same components
contained in the DMPS computer system and customer references with
similar equipment to the contracting officer within 30 days after
publication of this synopsis. Consideration will not be given to
companies who fail to submit the required synopsis and references. No
telephone requests accepted. The size standard for this procurement is
$18,000,000. Total small business set-aside. This is not a Request for
Proposals. Respondents will not be notified of the results of
