USACERL requires the evaluation of the effect of different physiological groups of bacteria on the reduction of 2,4-dinitrotoluene, 2,6-dinitrotoluene, and 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene from wastewaters produced during the manufacture of explosives and propellants at Army ammunition plants. Period of performance will be for one (1) year from 1 Jan 96 through 31 Dec 96. The proposed procurement will be on a sole source basis IAW FAR 6.302-1. The Contracts Office intends to negotiate a firm fixed-price contract with the Hazardous Waste Research and Information Center affiliated with the University of Illinois because of their close proximity to USACERL, Champaign, Illinois, to reduce travel time and the close monitoring of analytical explosive testing in a lab specifically designed with required safety features.
