Morris (816) 426-7267 extension 234 The National Weather Service plans to issue a solicitation to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS and upper air and data continuity programs at the National Weather Service Office, International Falls, Minnesota. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators and upper air weather observers to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS, and to take, document and disseminate upper air rawinsonde and RAWIN-RABAL comparative observations on a continuous basis, 24-hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that is beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consist of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The contract will contain one option to extend performance for one twelve-month period. The total duration of the contract shall not exceed 19 months. Solicitation will be issued on or about December 15, 1995. The anticipated performance period for the basic award period is March 1, 1996 through September 30, 1996. This is a total small business set-aside. SIC Code 8999 applies.
