contemplating the acquisition of services provided by a disposal
facility for Chicago District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, from a
landfill or solid waste facility for certain materials listed below and
in quantities shownlocated in the area of Waukegan, Illinois. This
announcement is not a request for proposals. Availability of any formal
solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for
information and planning purposes only, and is not to be construedas a
commitment by the Government. Interested entities may submit written
responses to US Army Engineer District, Chicago, Attn: CENCC-CT/Donald
Grskovich, 111 North Canal St., Suite 600, Chicago, IL 60606.
Responses will used to develop a source listfor possible future
solicitation. Information submitted should be pertinent and specific to
the following areas of consideration: 1) Name and address of firm
responding including POC and proximity of facility to Waukegan,
Illinois; 2) Certification bythe appropriate state regulatory agency as
a landfill operation capable of accepting contaminated material with
statements of concentrations, containing the following contaminants: a)
PCB-1248, b) PCB-1254 and c) total PCB's; 3) ability to acceptgranular
material ranging in gradation from medium sand (lake sand) to silt or
silty clay which contains the contaminants listed above and in
quantities of more than 50,000 tons but less than 250,000 tons; 4) Rate
of delivery expressed in unit weightor volume per unit time (e.g.
t/day); and 5) acceptable range for water content of material to be
delivered to the facility. Include other descriptive literature and any
other specific and pertinent information that would enhance our
consideration andevaluation of the information submitted. Firms
responding should indicate whether they are a small business, a
socially and economically disadvantaged business or a woman owned
business. TELEPHONE RESPONSES WILL NOT BE HONORED. So that your
responsecan be considered and your facility's requirements and
eligibility can be thoroughly investigated and evaluated, yor response
must be received not later than closed of business on January 31,
1996. The Chicago District manages the maintenance of
thefederally-authorized navigation channel in Waukegan Harbor,
Illinois. The purpose of this announcement is to determine the
availability of potential disposal facilities for sediments from the
portion of the channel known as the Inner Harbor, which isknown to
