A -- CARBON MONOXIDE SENSOR TECHNOLOGY SOL Sol IPO-96-204. Contact Belinda Padilla, Partnership Development, MS C331, Los Alamos, NM 87545, TEL: (505)667-9896, FAX: (505)667-0603. The University of California which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking an industrial partner(s) to participate in the maturation and application of a new technology for carbon monoxide sensors. LANL is interested in and has developed this technology for detection of excessive levels of carbon monoxide in air. Applications for this technology exist for use in homes, recreational vehicles and boating, and also in commercial aircraft. A patent application is currently being prepared by LANL for this new technology. This technology is technically advanced enough for integration into a CO detector. Specific features of this new method include: high sensitivity (meets UL Safety Standard 2034 and OSHA threshold limit value), selective, fast (detects 50 ppm in less than four seconds), and provides a linear voltage response with CO concentration. The technology's comparative advantage can be expressed as superior performance at lower cost than current commercial products. Industrial partners are being sought to enter into a technology transfer agreement to commercialize this technology. This may include such methods as licensing, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), Funds-In Agreements, etc., but is not limited to them. Prospective partners must demonstrate a strong background in detector manufacturing, sensor development and/or systems integration. Interested parties must also demonstrate product marketing capability and sound financial backing for this partnership. Any company that is interested in pursuing this opportunity or that wishes to receive more information concerning this program should respond with a brief statement describing the company's technical expertise, manufacturing and marketing capability, financial resources, estimates of existing sensor or other relevant market share, previous technology transfer experience, and motivation for participation in the program. The statement of interest must be dated within 30 days from the date of this notice. (334)
