R -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REGARDING THE NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT CONTRACT II (NISC II)! SOL DTFA01-96-R-340N2 DUE 013196 POC Mr. Brian Anderson, Contracting Officer, ASU-340, (202) 267-7540 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is soliciting innovative ideas from industry on how to acquire the follow-on NAS Implementation Support Contract (NISC). This Request for Information (RFI) shall be referenced DTFAO1-96-R-340N2. The NISC contractor provides assistance to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in critical technical, planning, and management areas representing a diverse set of work activities, requiring a broad range of skill types and skill levels. This work will be performed at the FAA headquarters, regional offices, and specific field sites. The contractor will be required to implement a highly visible, complex, large scale, geographically dispersed integration effort providing approximately 1,100 management and technical personnel. This is NOT a request for proposals. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this solicitation or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY, and this announcement does not constitute a contract or an offer to contract by the Government of any kind. This RFI is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government is seeking information that could be useful in the event a follow-on acquisition of NISC is pursued. Information is requested in a number of areas including: Acquisition Strategy, Evaluation Process, Technical Requirements, Management Efforts, and NISC Procurement Process. Input is also welcome regarding any other aspects of a NISC follow-on acquisition. The RFI is available on the internet at URL ''http://www.faa.gov/asu/asu300/nisc/rfi-nisc.htm'' (lower case) where it can be read and selectively copied or downloaded. Interested parties in the NISC Program are assumed to be capable of accessing the RFI through the internet. Amendments will be posted to this internet site as they occur. Interested parties are encouraged to check this site frequently for changes. All parties on the NISC Electronic Mailing List will b notified of amendments as they occur. Comments are due not later than January 31, 1996. All comments provided will be subject to release pursuant to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. Any information that the originator considers exempt from the act should be clearly identified. The FAA is not seeking any business sensitive or proprietary information, but is looking for innovative ideas on how to improve upon the content and structure of any follow-on NISC effort. The FAA reserves the right to use or not use any specific ideas that are provided.
