The Coastal Systems Station, Dahlgren Division, NSWC, intends to award a sole-source contract to Hughes Aircraft Company for continued development of the Rapid Airborne Mine Clearance System Anti-Mine Munitions (RAMICS AMM). The initial proof of concept was conducted under N60921-93-C-0156, and was based on a proposal submitted by Hughes Aircraft in response to a Broad Agency Announcement. Hughes Aircraft is the only supplier that has successfully demonstrated all phases of the AMM that meets the mine clearing requirements. Continued development was conducted by Hughes Aircraft under N60921-94-C-0072. Award to any other contractor would require duplication of an estimated $4.5M in developmental efforts to reach the stage of development Hughes Aircraft is at. Anticipated contract type is cost plus fixed-fee. Note 22 applies. (0339)
