The proposed action is for the production of the following NDI tactical switching equipment:``the Compact Digital Switch (CDS), the Switch Multiplexer Unit (SMU), the Line Termination Unit (LTU), the Single Row Nest (SRN), ancillary equipment, and spares. A non-competitive negotiation is proposed with GTE Government Systems Corporation, Needham Heights, Massachusetts, because the NDI items contain GTE proprietary equipment or common software with proprietary interfaces. GTE is also the developer and sole manufacturer of all the AN/TTC/TYC-39, 39D and MSE switches. The proposed contract will be a five-year requirements type contract (base year and four option years).
