(202)927-0567 The U.S. Customs Service plans to issue a competitive
solicitation to acquire technical services to assist in providing data
base administration, management and software support in mainframe and
pc/client server environments. Technical services shall support the
existing U.S. Customs Service databases located at the U.S. Customs
Service Data Center, Springfield, Va. Integration services which shall
entail the implementation of a distributed processing environment
utilizing client server technology will also be required. Additionally,
it may be necessary for the contractor to acquire software in support
of this effort. The contractor must have experience in logical and
physical data base system design, development, implementation,
verification, security, management and administration in both mainframe
and distributed processing environments and experience in large data
base administration, management and software support efforts to assist
in enhancing current data base system capabilities and/or developing
and implementing new data base systems. This data base support shall
assist Customs in managing its existing and future complex data systems
and the commercial in-house written software products used to support
these systems and other unforeseen requirements that become the
responsibility of Customs during the term of the contract. It is
anticipated that an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)
type contract with firm fixed prices will be awarded with a base year
and four option years. A draft solicitation will be provided to
interested vendors in advance of the issuance of the formal Request for
Proposals for this requirement. The anticipated date for issuance for
this draft solicitation is January 5, 1996. The anticipated date for
issuance of the formal Request for Proposals CS-96-014 is April 1, 1996
with proposals due 45 days after issuance. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) Code is 7379 and the applicable size standard is
average annual receipts of $18 million. Only written requests for the
solicitation (both draft and final) will be honored. No telephone
requests will be honored.Small business firms interested in responsing

of its capability statement, technical literature, brochures, and any
