46 -- SOURCES SOUGHT FOR OILY WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM (OWTS) FOR TREATING NAVY BILGE WATER ON A SMALL SCALE APPLICATION SOL N47408-96-R-2301 DUE 010396 POC Contract Specialist, PAULETTE PETERSON, 805-982-5081 The Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center is seeking information for an onshore Oily Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) for treating Navy bilge water on a small scale application. The OWTS is to be capable of treating bilge water from small navy crafts (e.g. Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM), etc.) on shore. Bilge water contains free and emulsified oils and heavy metals. The total oil and grease concentration range from 0 to 5000 ppm and specific gravities of the oils at operating oil-water temperatures will range from 0.8 to 0.9. The specific gravity of the fresh and brackish water at operating temperatures will range from 1.0 to 0.99. Operating temperatures of the influent oil-in water mixture will range from 35 to 85 degrees F and ambient air temperature will range from 50 to 100 degrees F. The average specific gravity of the suspended solids is 2.0. The OWTS is to be capable of treating the bilge water at a maximum flow of 20 gallons per minute and remove oil/grease and emulsified oils at 10 ppm or less. The system may require the capability to remove emulsified oils, suspended solids, and heavy metals. The system is to be skid mounted and have a footprint of less than 50 square feet and operate on a 110V electrical power (if required). It must be readily accessible for maintenance and inspection.
