Y -- FORMER LANDFILL CAPPING-OPERABLE UNIT I POC Contact Point, David Dale, (516)282-3199 This contract will be set aside for bidding by small businesses only. SIC Code 1629 applies. Work consists of closure of a nine acre landfill by capping in accordance with New York State DEC 6NYCRR Part 360. The work entails rough grading, installation of passive gas vents, filter fabric, a gas venting layer, a geomembrane and a protection layer. The work will also include construction of drainage structures, access road, and finishing the site with new topsoil and grass seed. All work will be awarded on a single contract. Estimated construction cost is $1,000,000 to $3,000,000. Estimated construction time is 26 weeks. Bid documents will be available on or about February 1, 1996. However, a project overview and site tour will be conducted in mid December, prior to the availability of plans and specifications. To be assured of an invitation to the overview and site tour, requests for bid packages should be received at Brookhaven by December 8, 1995. The site tour will be include a tour of borrow areas. Attendance is strongly recommended as winter weather may hinder later site inspections. A 20% bid bond is required. Payment and performance bonds are required after contract award. Brookhaven is charging a non-refundable fee of $40.00 for bid documents. Personal checks made out to ''Brookhaven National Laboratory'' are acceptable. Checks may be sent immediately and bid packages will be mailed upon availability. Requests for bid packages received without proper payment will not be acknowledged. (0345)
