LSO-360, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Martin Space
Operations (LMSO), a NASA Prime Contractor at Kennedy Space Center, FL
(KSC), seeks sources capable of providing a coordinate measuring
machine to be used on space shuttle orbiters in digitizing a tile
cavity and downloading the data for use by a milling machine which uses
a CATIA program. The CMM will consist of a six axis rotating arm, 0.25
inch tough probe, 6mm Ruby ball probe, laptop computer with AutoCAD or
equivalent software package, and all required interfaces. System must
be compatible with the KSC Orbiter Processing Facility environment and
not have any safety hazards when used in this environment. It must
have a bandwidth error of 0.005 maximum and a 2 sigma single point
error of 0.003 maximum. Must be self-calibrating within five minutes,
have a maximum weight of 30 pounds and be portable so one person can
set it up on an optics stand, or carry it up a stairway. Hardware will
include a laptop computer with a 486DX25 processor, 20M RAM Memory,
250 M Hard Drive, Color Display, 3.5, 1.44 M Floppy Drive and have 1
serial and 1 parallel port interface. Software will include AutoCAD 12
or equivalent, and an advance Reverse Engineering and Inspection
program. Processed data file must be able to be downloaded to an IGES
file format. Software must also be capable of removing bad data points
and have the ability to verify the accuracy of the acquired data. A
five year extended warranty covering all parts and labor is desired, as
well as adequate training provided for two persons to enable them to
use the tool without assistance. Vendor must be available for an
on-site demonstration to validate usability of the tool, and support
capability must be located in Central Florida. This synopsis is for the
sole purpose of identifying prospective sources and does not commit
LMSO to make an award, nor to reimburse costs of data submitted in
response. Interested firms should submit indications of interest to
