NON-TOXIC TRAINING AMMUNITION The US Army, ARDEC, has a requirement for
the following Non Developmental items:(1) 5.56mm non-toxic training
cartridge. The cartridge must satisfactorily function all 5.56mm
military weapons with no attachments or weapon modifications and must
present no unusual risks or hazards to the user. All cartridge
components must be free of toxic materials as defined by the EPA. The
projectile must exhibit a ballistic match to the M855 cartridge to 100
meters or more and have a maximum range of 1000 meters or less. The
projectile must completely break up upon impact with light weight (1/8
inch) steel plate. (2) 7.62mm non-toxic training cartridge. The
cartridge must satisfactorily function all 7.62mm weapons with no
attachments or weapon modifications and must present no unusual risk or
hazard to the user. All cartridge components must be free of toxic
materials as defined by the EPA. The projectile must exhibit a
ballistic match to the M80 cartridge to 100 meters or more and have a
maximum range of 1000 meters or less. The projectile must completely
breakup upon impact with light weight (1/8 inch) steelplate. (3) 9mm
non-toxic training cartridge. The cartridge must function the M9 and
M11 pistols and MP5 and UZI submachine guns with no attachments or
weapon modifications and must present no unusual risks or hazards to
the user. All cartridge components must be free of toxic materials as
defined by the EPA. The projectile must exhibit a ballistic match to
the M882 cartridge to 50 meters or more and have a maximum range of 500
meters or less. The projectile must completely breakup upon impact with
light weight (1/8 inch) steel plate. (4) 12 gauge non-toxic training
cartridge. The cartridge must satisfactorily function M12, M590, and
M870 shotguns with no attachments or weapon modifications and must
present no unusual risk or hazard to the user. All cartridge components
must be free of toxic materials as defined by the EPA. The projectiles
must exhibit a ballistic match to the 12 gauge ''00'' shot to 25
meters or more and have a maximum range of 500 meters o less. The
projectile must completely breakup upon impact with light weight (1/8
inch) steel plate. All responsible sources may submit their
capabilities in any or all of the above calibers. Please include
