70 -- ADPE EQUIPMENT DUE 011796 POC Mr. Jeff Campbell, FAX (703) 784-5826. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is requesting information for the following ADPE equipment. The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking sources, contract vehicles, technical information and approximate costing for data backup and recovery systems for Banyan Local Area Networks. The system shall meet the following performance requirements and support: A) Existing Banyan VINES operating system with no system upgrade. B) Integrated and automatic functions for backup and recovery of data. C) Scaleable capacity in order to handle increases in data storage requirements. D) Capable of installation on each server without modification to the server's operating system. E) Backup and restoration of data from a single control point. F) Continuous monitoring and logging of events occurring during data backup and restoration. G) Client software installation and operation while other client server functions are being performed (i.e. read, write, mail service, routing, etc.). H) Uninterrupted service to applications and users client servers. I) Full capture of client server data, to include Banyan VINES StreetTalk, operating system configurations, and electronic mail across the LAN from a central point. J) Parameters that are easily modified by the system administrator to define: backup schedules, categories of data to be included or excluded, and file size limits. K) Capability to perform automatic restarts of backup or recovery of data in the event of a network failure, to ensure no loss of data. L) Manual or automatic backup of client server data. M) Security of data from unauthorized access after it has been backed up to a storage media. N) Automatic re-schedule of data backup in the event of a network failure, or if a client server is unavailable. O) Automatic generation of reports and log file to monitor and confirm the backup operations. P) Control of the data backup or restoration using a modem of at least 2400 bps. Q) Individual restore passwords for each client server for security purposes, to prevent unauthorized backup and restoration. R) Operation within a class C2 ADP security level.
