Morris (816) 426-7267 x234 The National Weather Service plans to issue solicitations to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS and upper air and data continuity programs at the National Weather Service Offices located at Alpena, Michigan; Casper, Wyoming; Duluth, Minnesota; Muskegon, Michigan; Madison, Wisconsin; Norfolk, Nebraska and South Bend, Indiana. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS, on a continuous basis, 24- hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that is beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consist of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The contract will contain one option to extend performance for one twelve-month period. The total duration of the contract shall not exceed 18 months. Solicitations will be issued on or about January 16, 1996. The anticipated performance period for the basic award period is April 1, 1996 through September 30, 1996. This is a total small business set-aside. SIC Code 8999 applies.
