The Naval Medical Logistics Command, Ft. Detrick, MD acting as the technical agent for the Naval Ophthalmic Support and Training Activity (NOSTRA) is issuing a solicitation for information and planning purposes. Responses are sought from sources interested in producing and shipping ophthalmic frames and corrective lenses for military members and retirees in the Pensacola, FL area. The frames include all standard military issue frames as well as military unique requirements such as corrective lens inserts for gas masks. The Government wishes to determine whether industry can: (a) meet this initiative's unique technical requirements, (b) be cost competitive with the current NOSTRA operation, (c) respond to the Government's needs in a timely fashion, and (d) provide a choice of frame styles within the defined cost parameters. A solicitation shall be issued to which responses are sought for planning purposes only. An award will not be made as a result of this solicitation.
