Contract Specialist, Jane B. Kulick (504) 862-2869 The U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers, New Orleans District, intends to enter into a contract
with Louisiana Transportation Research Center, Baton Rouge, LA, to
perform instrumentation of geogrid and geotextile reinforcements for a
test section of the Westminister Levee Project, Jefferson Parish,
Louisiana. The purpose of the test section is to determine the effect
of large, nontraditional elongations of the soil reinforcement. The
increased reinforcement elongations require that gages, installation
procedures, and adhesives function outside of traditional limits. This
contractor is experienced in installing geosynthetic instrumentation
subjected to strains greater than 5 percent as well as sucessfully
measuring these strains. This contractor has also published articles
demonstrating this experience and successful strain measurement, as
well as illustrating their proven state-of-the-art installation
procedures. See Note 22. (0354) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0014 19951221\B-0001.SOL)
